REGINA – Former Westman Communications CTO Jeffrey DeSarno has been named Chief Technology Officer of Access Communications Co-operative.

DeSarno has over 25 years of experience in the telecommunications industry, including in the development of technical business strategy, leading and managing all technical services, as well as broadband services and engineering, reads Monday’s announcement.

“Jeffrey is a seasoned leader that brings strategy and passion to his role and cares deeply about providing exceptional experiences to customers,” said Access CEO Jim Deane, in the announcement.  “Jeffrey recently won the award from Cablefax as Independent Technology Executive of the Year – the first and only Canadian to win this award. We are proud to have him part of the Access team.”

In a post on LinkedIn, DeSarno said that “family reasons” helped to dictate his return to Regina, and he offered best wishes to the Westman team.

“I wish all the best for their future, as Westman has taught me so much, and I will be forever grateful for the opportunity to work with a world-class organization for a very quick decade”, reads the post.  “It was a true honour to welcomed by Brandon, and I enjoyed being part of spectacular organizations, such as the United Way of Brandon & District, Rocking the Fields of Minnedosa, and the WYFA, to name only a few. I am taking on the role of CTO at Access Communications in Regina, which means I am not leaving the industry I have fallen in love with! Rather, I will be able to cross paths with those who mean so much to me and have truly allowed me to be part of something bigger.”
