OTTAWA – The membership of the House of Commons Standing Committees on Canadian Heritage and Industry – the two with the most impact on the cable, radio, television and telecom industries were announced this week.
New members are in bold.
The members of the Heritage Committee are: Chair: Gary Schellenberger (Conservative, Perth-Wellington, ON); vice-chairs: Mauril Bélanger (Liberal, Ottawa-Vanier, ON) and Maria Mourani (Bloc Quebecois, Ahuntsic, QC); Members: Jim Abbott (C, Kootenay-Columbia, BC), Dave Batters (C, Palliser, SK), Gord Brown (C, Leeds-Grenville, ON), Ed Fast (C, Abbotsford, BC), Hedy Fry (L, Vancouver Centre), Luc Malo (Bloc, Vercheres-Les Patriotes, QC), Francis Scarpaleggia (L, Lac-Saint-Louis, QC), Andy Scott (L, Fredericton, NB), and Bill Siksay (NDP, Burnaby-Douglas, BC).
The members of the Industry Committee are: Chair: James Rajotte (C, Edmonton-Leduc, AB); Vice-Chairs: Paule Brunelle (Bloc, Trois Rivieres, QC), Dan McTeague (L, Pickering-Scarborough East, ON); Members: André Arthur (Independent, Portneuf-Jacques Cartier, QC), Scott Brison (L, Kings-Hants, NS), Colin Carrie (C, Oshawa, ON), Mark Eyking (L, Sydney-Victoria, NS), Peggy Nash (NDP, Parkdale-High Park, ON), Raymond Simard (L, Saint Boniface, MB), Bruce Stanton (C, Simcoe North, ON), Dave Van Kesteren (Chatham Kent-Essex, ON), and Robert Vincent (Bloc, Shefford, QC).
Both committees hold their first meetings of this session of Parliament on Tuesday.
