HAMILTON – A local fire in Hamilton last Friday night impacted Rogers’ customers, some of whom were without service into Sunday evening.
“We are aware of a service interruption impacting some areas of Hamilton due to a fibre cut caused by a local fire,” a tweet from the @RogersHelps Twitter account on Saturday says. The tweet also indicates wireless services were not impacted.
By 2:50 p.m. Saturday, Rogers indicated many of its customers were back online and that it anticipated service to be fully restored later that day.
At 11:35 p.m., however, the company announced it was “taking time to get all customers back online due to the complexity of the restoration after the fire.” It was not until 5:58 p.m. the next day that Rogers confirmed wireline services were restored for all its customers.
This service outage comes as Rogers continues to deal with the aftermath of its nationwide outage in July.
