Fight Net adds Michaud, Laberge


TORONTO – Having just left The Score last week, The Fight Network has since hired Patrick Michaud as its chief financial officer.

It also hired Paul Laberge as chief operating officer, completing the management reorganization which began with the company’s change of leadership in September, 2007, the company announced today.

“Our goal is to make The Fight Network a global media brand,” said George Burger, president and CEO. “With the addition of Patrick and Paul, we have the skills, leadership and experience the company needs to achieve that goal.”

Michaud (right) brings more than 30 years of accounting and financial management expertise to The Fight Network. Most recently, he was executive vice-president and CFO at Score Media where he was responsible for all financial affairs of the publicly traded media company. He “has extensive experience in public and private equity financing, leading the recapitalization of Score Media and the restructuring of its business units, and was key to restoring the business to profitability. In his new position, Mr. Michaud will oversee the network’s day-to-day financial operations including financial reporting, capitalization strategy and debt/equity financings, and taxation, and will provide strategic financial management and guidance to help the growing network,” reads the press release.

As COO, Laberge (left) will oversee the company’s day-to-day operations and lead the implementation of the company’s multiplatform international growth strategy. Laberge “has a thorough understanding of the Canadian specialty television market and experience expanding media businesses internationally. He spent nine years at Alliance Atlantis Communications Inc. and its affiliated companies, most recently as executive vice-president, corporate development and general counsel at Motion Picture Distribution. At MPD, he was responsible for corporate acquisitions, financings, executing MPD’s ambitious international growth objectives and the development of its digital strategy,” reads the release.
