BRUCE COUNTY – The Ontario and federal governments are putting to use more than $3.5 million to connect communities in Bruce and Grey counties.
The money is funding high-speed internet infrastructure to 2,570 families, farms and businesses in Grey and Bruce counties, including the communities of Holstein, Varney, Orchardville, Maple Lane, Yeovil, Dromore, Tartan, Thistle and Bognor.
The contracts for the builds have been awarded by non-profit corporation the Southwestern Integrated Fibre Technology (SWIFT), which has been injected with more than $63 million from Ontario and the federal governments.
Late last month, the governments and SWIFT announced funding to Huron County.
More than $255 million has been invested by the governments and the private sector to bring high-speed internet to more than 63,000 households and businesses in Southwestern Ontario through SWIFT by the end of 2025, the year by which the provincial government expects to connect the entire province.
