Huron County getting $3.8M in broadband funds from Ontario, feds

HURON COUNTY – The federal and Ontario governments are plowing $3.8 million into high-speed internet projects to service more than 1,570 families, farms and businesses in Huron County, according to a press release Friday. Each government is putting $1.6 million toward communities including Summerhill, Henfryn, Thames Road, Lumley, Hurondale, Wroxeter, Gorrie, Fordwich, Benmiller and rural areas near Blue Water Beach, with the latter two expected to see 310 families, farms and businesses get access to high-speed internet by June 2023, according to the release.
