CWC award noms close Friday

TORONTO – Canadian Women in Communications (CWC) is accepting nominations until Friday, October 31, 2008, for its 2009 Annual Awards.

“By submitting a nomination, you demonstrate your appreciation and your leadership abilities,” said Stephanie MacKendrick, CWC president. “We can’t possibly keep track of all the tremendously talented women leaders in the communications industry and the companies that support their advancement. We need your help to identify them, so that they may receive the recognition they deserve.”

There are many ways to lead, which is why CWC has created a variety of awards to acknowledge and celebrate the diverse contributions and achievements of industry role models.

The three annual awards categories are:

Woman of the Year. This award recognizes an outstanding woman at the executive level – vice-president, president or CEO – who has excelled in both her career and as a champion of women’s advancement.

Employer of the Year. This recognizes a company that has an outstanding track record, or has demonstrated excellent leadership, in the promotion of women.

Excellence in Leadership. It recognizes a woman’s recent contributions to the industry through her achievements in one of the following categories: mentor, innovator, trailblazer, technology innovator, emerging leader, champion and CWC leader.

Nomination forms for the CWC 2009 Annual Awards can be downloaded from the CWC web site at www.cwc-afc.com. CWC will present all awards at the CWC Annual Awards Gala in Ottawa on March 31, 2009.

CWC is a national, bilingual organization dedicated to the advancement of women in the communications industry (radio, television, telecommunications, cable, print media, new media and the information technology sector) through strategic networking, targeted professional development and meaningful recognition. There are currently over 1,400 CWC members in nine chapters across Canada.
