Cottage Life TV kicks off launch with free burgers, preview

TORONTO – For thousands of southern Ontario cottagers, Webers Burgers is an institution that’s part of many families’ trek up Hwy 11 to cottage country.

On Friday, September 6, the first 5,000 people to visit the popular restaurant will be treated to a free burger courtesy of specialty channel Cottage Life, which is marking its launch with the free hamburger giveaway.

The Cottage Life channel officially launches September 4 with a national free preview in 9.2 million homes.

The Webers promotion is part of a national multimedia campaign designed to highlight the broad appeal of Cottage Life, says Jamie Schouela, EVP of marketing and communications of Blue Ant Media, the channel’s parent company.

The marketing campaign rolls out in September and October and includes a strong digital and social component, targeted out-of-home digital video boards, TV spots with distribution partners, and newspaper insertions.

Promotion of the channel began earlier this summer with a multi-city tour at local community events across Canada that included on-site activations.

Initially known as Bold (and before that, Country Canada) the channel was rebranded by Blue Ant Media after it won CRTC approval of its purchase of the channel from CBC last November. In December Blue Ant Media acquired Cottage Life Media Inc., which included the company’s consumer publications, magazines, books, social media apps and Cottage Life consumer shows.
