OTTAWA – CBC/Radio-Canada officially announced Thursday that Heather Conway has been named executive vice-president of English Services, and will join the Corp in December.
As Cartt.ca reported earlier this week, Conway is currently chief business officer at the Art Gallery of Ontario. Her previous experience includes president of Edelman Public Relations, executive vice-president at Alliance Atlantis, executive vice president of TD Financial Group, vice president of Hill and Knowlton and of The Neville Group and special assistant to the Minister of Finance.
"At a time when we have great momentum, Heather with her exceptionally broad experience and proven expertise and success in the business, government and cultural sectors will be a great addition" said CBC/Radio-Canada president and CEO Hubert Lacroix, in the announcement. "Her business-focus to decision making and strategic thinking will be particularly useful as we carve out the path for CBC and ensure its continued progress."
"I believe the CBC is a valued and essential institution”, added Conway. “Canadians have such high expectations as to the role the public broadcaster plays in their daily lives and in the telling of their stories. The idea of being part of that is thrilling, particularly at this stage of CBC's evolution, and I can't wait to get started."
Conway replaces former EVP English Services, Kirstine Stewart, who left the CBC in April to head up Twitter’s Canadian division.
