ACTRA hires new diversity director

TORONTO – Trevor Hampden (above) has been appointed as director of diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging, ACTRA National announced this week. His job is to support the actors’ union’s “objectives to improve the working lives of Canadian professional performers and oversee strategies to ensure more diverse representation on all of our screens,” says its press release. Hampden brings 25 years of “progressive media, broadcasting, financial and not-for-profit experience,” having launched the Canadian Association of Black Journalists and chairing of the board Obsidian Theatre, for example.
