Bell partners with organization to offer newcomers special deals on services

MONTREAL – In another move to bolster brand loyalty from the jump, Bell announced it is partnering with the Institute for Canadian Citizenship (ICC) to provide new immigrants with special offers on purchases of the telecom’s services.

The ICC and its app, Canoo, provide new residents with free access to multiple attractions and special deals on various services as they get acquainted with the country.

Ahead of the Canada Day long weekend, Bell said Friday that it has partnered with the ICC to be the exclusive telecommunications service provider for Canoo.

Deals include a $100 Visa prepaid card with activation of a home internet plan in Ontario, Quebec, Atlantic Canada and Manitoba. It also features a $20 to $30 credit per month on mobile wireless services for the first two years, plus 1,000 free long-distance minutes per month for the first two years with a purchase of either an Ultimate or Essential plan.

Last month, Bell announced a partnership with Air Canada to provide newcomers and visitors to Canada with complementary SIM cards on certain inbound international flights so they can connect to cellular services when they get on the ground in Canada.

Bell CEO Mirko Bibic has said the newcomer segment is an area in which the company sees massive growth potential. The loyalty play goes that newcomers won’t forget the company that assisted them in their immigration journey and will likely stay with it long-term.

Otherwise, the telecoms have always noted the positive influence immigration has had on their bottom line as it bolsters market share opportunities.
