Uninterrupted Canada announces production of Black Ice

TORONTO and LOS ANGELES – Uninterrupted Canada in partnership with DreamCrew subsidiary DreamCrew Entertainment, The SpringHill Company and Bell Media announced today the production of Black Ice, a full-length original documentary executive produced by LeBron James, Maverick Carter, Drake and Adel ‘Future’ Nur.

“The film will explore the journey of Black hockey players from the creation of The Coloured Hockey League of the Maritimes to the modern-day NHL, highlighting their often overlooked and marginalized contributions to the game,” reads a press release. “The film is produced in association with First Take Entertainment with support from Telefilm Canada, Canadian Media Fund and Ontario Creates”

Hubert Davis will direct the documentary. “I was not only surprised but inspired to learn about the stories of the often overlooked and unheralded black pioneers of hockey,” said Davis, in the press release. “I think it is more important than ever before for all generations, particularly young people of colour, to understand and see the diverse faces who have contributed and shaped the essential fabrics of our country.”

Bell Media, which announced a long-term partnership with Uninterrupted Canada in 2019, will air the premiere exclusively to Canadian viewers on TSN, Crave, and CTV platforms.
