PHILADELPHIA – Comcast Business today announced it has signed an access agreement with Kamloops-based iTel Networks in order for the American communications giant to deliver managed broadband services to its U.S.-based enterprise customers with a presence in Canada.
Comcast’s press release says it will leverage iTel Networks’ vendor relationships to expand its business footprint and support its U.S.-based enterprise customers’ locations in Canada with its managed broadband offering. It's not expected at this time to compete for Canadian business customers against existing partners like Shaw, Rogers and Videotron.
“Our enterprise solutions team has uncovered a wealth of opportunities for Comcast Business to deliver services outside the U.S. Many of our existing enterprise customers and prospects have locations outside the United States; in particular, in Canada,” said Glenn Katz, senior vice president and general manager, Comcast Business Enterprise Solutions, in the press release.
“As a converged network company, we harness the power of every Canadian carrier and every technology to create an affordable network solution in even the most remote locations across Canada and the U.S.,” said Dan Rink, iTel CEO. “Our agreement with Comcast Business brings this power to bear for their U.S.-based enterprise customers looking to extend managed broadband support to their Canadian locations.”
Founded in 2007, iTel is a national provider of business services, including voice, connectivity, networking, and cloud, via its “network of networks.” It has five data centres and 52 peering providers, including large and small Canadian network owner-operators, across the country, giving it a national footprint well suited for Comcast's purposes.
Comcast Business’ managed broadband service offers enterprises a single service provider to oversee order management, installation, account management, and billing for all on-net and off-net locations. The division offers ethernet, internet, Wi-Fi, voice, TV and managed enterprise solutions to organizations of all sizes.
