OTTAWA – CTV and NBCUniversal International Studios are teaming up on a new prime time medical drama billed as a modern immigrant story wrapped in a medical procedural.
The Transplant tells the story of a struggling Syrian refugee named Bash who draws on his skills and warzone instincts from his former life as a doctor to save multiple people after a truck plows into the busy street café where he works. Among these victims is the chief of the busiest trauma centre in Toronto and the one person who can give him the opportunity to return to a career in emergency medicine that he so deserves.
Developed by CTV and produced by Montreal-based producer Sphère Média Plus, the 13 episode first season will kick off production this summer and debut during CTV’s 2019/20 broadcast season.
NBCUniversal will have distribution rights outside of Canada.
