CCSA Connect this weekend (updated)

MONT TREMBLANT ? One of the industry'?s most enjoyable gatherings begins Sunday in Mont Tremblant, CCSA Connect, the annual general meeting and conference of the Canadian Cable Systems Alliance.

While one of the highlights will be the presentation of the brand new cable community channel programming award-winners on Monday night (the winners can be found here), the three days in the resort is dedicated to learning ? and some fun.

After a members-only day on Sunday the 22nd of various workshops (where members will be filled in on their new marketing kits, various regulatory files and a progress report on a TV Everywhere solution for independent operators), the CCSA hosts a cocktail party in the evening for all delegates.

Monday morning'?s keynote speaker, CRTC vice-chairman, telecom, Peter Menzies, will kick off the event with a speech at 8:30 (Commission chair Jean-Pierre Blais was supposed to speak, but he is unable to attend) and will be followed by ?"unmarketing"? expert Scott Stratten on the topic of ?Stop Marketing and Start Engaging?. Once Stratten is done, the conference trade show will open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

After the trade show and lunch, customer service expert Doug Lipp will talk about The Art of Customer Service, then broadcaster Rex Murphy will speak on Connecting the Community of Canada. Monday evening will see the conference dinner and awards presentations, then Canadian comic Sugar Sammy will round out the day'?s events.

Tuesday the 24th will be the gathering?s golf tournament or culinary workshop for those non-swingers.

The event doesn'?t get off the ground without sponsors (and Cartt.ca is one of them), all of whom are shown in the photo below. See you at Mont Tremblant this weekend.
