Primus finalizes data centre colocation contract with AIMCo

TORONTO – Primus Telecommunications has won a multi-year contract with Alberta Investment Management Corporation (AIMCo) to provide primary data centre services in Edmonton.

AIMCo is one of Canada’s largest institutional investment managers and is responsible for the management of assets with a value of approximately $68 billion, which include a broad spectrum of investment instruments such as equities, fixed income securities, derivative products and private investment assets.

Space and power limitations within AIMCo’s current data centre compelled the company to relocate its computing infrastructure and network services from its current location, according to the company’s announcement.

"As one of the largest data centre solutions providers in Canada, we are pleased to support AIMCo in providing a facility that will deliver the security, reliability, and scalability that businesses today demand for their mission critical computing infrastructure," said Jeff Lorenz, Primus’ VP of sales and marketing. “Primus Canada has owned and operated data centres for over a decade and today we support more than 500 customers in eight separate facilities across Canada.”
