Prestige Telecom branches out into renewable energy

MONTREAL – Prestige Telecom is trying on something new for size.

The company has added a new renewable energy division called Prestige Energis, which will specialize in the design, engineering, project management and installation of both meteorological towers and wind turbine generator towers.

It also announced the signing of a strategic partnership agreement between Energis and Louisbourg SBC, a major general contractor specializing in the building of foundations and infrastructure for the construction industry.  The agreement is aimed at creating a joint venture for the purpose of winning meteorological and wind energy projects.

"The combination of expertise gained over 30 years and strategic acquisitions enabled us to start this venture into a known and complementary business with strong market potential for Prestige”, said chairman and CEO, Pierre Yves Méthot, in a statement. “Furthermore, this strategic partnership with a renowned construction company such as Louisbourg will enable us to strengthen our service offering. As with the strategy deployed with Prestige Telecom, Energis’ long term goal is to become the outsourcing partner of choice for the renewable energy industry by providing potential customers with a complete range of services to build their wind energy projects."
