IP network expansion translates into more sales for Allstream

TORONTO – MTS Allstream said that expanding its IP fibre network into targeted markets across Canada continues to pay off, noting that it signed 60 new IP contracts in the second quarter of 2011.

Since the initiative started in March 2010, Allstream has extended fibre into 174 new multi-tenant fibre-fed buildings and won a total of 247 new IP contracts. The company said that some of its newest customers include Active Health Management, Berletex Aero Design, Cybershift, Design Concepts, LBC Canada, Mitel, National Research Corporation Canada, Questzones, SITQ, Solios Environnement, Thomson Reuters, and Workers Health & Safety Centre Federation of Ontario.

"We continue to make excellent progress in the IP market, and in the second quarter our IP sales momentum was again, very strong creating an important funnel of pre-sold contracts that should support strong IP revenue growth in the quarters to come," said Allstream president Dean Prevost, in a statement. "Our success in the IP market reflects the continued demand for IP-based services in the business telecommunications market in Canada and our strong competitive position to meet this demand."
