TORONTO – Registration is now open for the 30th edition of the Banff World Television Festival running June 7-10, 2009 at the Fairmont Banff Springs in Banff, Alberta.
New this year is ‘The Master Class’ which will showcase some of television’s top creators in intimate interviews, providing the opportunity for the ‘master’ to reveal their creative processes and trade secrets to making a hit TV show. Confirmed speakers to date are Kari Lizer, creator and executive producer of ‘The New Adventures of Old Christine’, and Emmy Award-winner René Balcer, co-creator and executive producer of ‘Law & Order: Criminal Intent’ and showrunner for the original ‘Law & Order’ series.
Also, Canadian actor Paul Gross will receive the NBC Universal Canada Award of Distinction which acknowledges “an individual’s outstanding career in the broadcast industry”, at the awards luncheon on June 8.
The Banff World Television Festival bills itself as “the world’s most important television content creation event”, and is an annual forum of business and creative opportunities for those in television and new media.
Television professionals from around the world participate in seminars, workshops, unique pitching opportunities and more. As well as honouring excellence in international television at the Banff World Television Awards, the Festival provides a global platform for industry members to network, discuss and debate, and to explore current issues and challenges.
