Wind taps Telepin for mobile top-up functionality

TORONTO – Future wireless entrant Wind Mobile has selected Ottawa-based Telepin Software to create the core platform of its recharge services and transactional infrastructure.

Telepin specializes in creating mobile financial applications including Mobile eTopUp, eVoucher and eBilling capabilities, and will provide Wind with its Cayman transaction platform.

"Several of the services we will be providing to Canadians are readily available in other global markets but not currently through our competitors,” said Wind CEO Ken Campbell, in the press release. “Telepin is a Canadian company with success in other markets. We want to bring this success to Canada. Based on our own research we know that Canadians desire a more robust and consumer-centric service that allows flexibility in mobile top-up. With our international experience the WIND team will bring a different perspective and increased flexibility to core consumer offerings."

Wind also confirmed that it is on target to launch in “key markets” late this year, and across Canada in 2010.
