TORONTO – Peter Vamos is the new executive director of Banff World Television Festival.
Formerly the publisher of Playback Magazine, Vamos will report to Festival CEO Robert Montgomery, who is also CEO of Achilles Media, which operates the Festival on behalf of the Banff World Television Festival Foundation.
"After an exhaustive search, we are thrilled to have a leader for the Festival who truly loves television and eats, sleeps and breathes the industry’s fortunes," said Robert Montgomery. "Vamos is well-known to many in both the international and domestic television industries as a key interpreter and facilitator. Given Banff’s critical role in turning ideas and relationships into profitable content, Vamos has the right experience to lead this important institution through a period of great change and promise for content creators."
The 2009 Banff World Television Festival will take place June 7-10, 2009 at the Fairmont Banff Springs Conference Centre in Alberta.
