TORONTO – The Ontario chapter of the Society of Cable Telecommunications Engineers is now seeking nominations to its board of directors.
The chapter has grown to over 550 members since its inception in 2003 and a strong leadership is critical to ensuring its continued success.
The bylaws require six board members, elected for two-year terms, with three board members replaced each year in order to provide continuity. Laura O’Hare and Lawrence Watson have reached the end of their two-year term and James Myles has completed a one-year fill in term for the retired Charlie Elliott. Boris Eventov, Rob McCann and Bruce Marshall will remain on the board until the end of 2009.
All current Ontario SCTE members can nominate candidates for the board. Nominees do not necessarily need to be current members, but they must join and maintain SCTE membership during their two-year term of office.
The position requires several hours of commitment each month, with a monthly board meeting, and the planning and organizing of quarterly general meetings and seminars. This is an excellent opportunity to demonstrate leadership abilities and lead a very dynamic organization. The group is are also looking for a good mix of both system operators and vendors.
Nomination forms are available on the SCTE Ontario web site must be submitted by Friday, October 31.
The election will be held from November 17 to December 5, and all current SCTE members will be eligible to vote.
