TORONTO – Rogers Cable launched pay service NBA League Pass today.
The new addition (which provides access to all National Basketball Association games the same way MLB Extra Innings, NHL Centre Ice and NFL Sunday Ticket does) means Rogers Super Sports Pak customers will be able to enjoy more than 600 NBA games during the regular season (including some in HD).
"Rogers is also the first company worldwide to offer such an extensive sports package that includes more then 600 NBA games, 1100 NHL games, 2000 MLB games, over 200 NFL games, as well as un-matched coverage of the OHL, NASCAR In Car, and NCAA football and basketball," says the company’s press release.
Games included in NBA League Pass are in addition to those available on TSN, Rogers Sportsnet, The Score and Raptors NBA TV. League blackouts also apply.
"This deal is important to help serve the needs of avid Canadian basketball fans who want more coverage of their favorite teams and players," said Dan MacKenzie, general manager of NBA Canada. "As basketball is projected to be the fastest growing sport in Canadian urban centres over the next 10 years, we felt the time was right to bring NBA League Pass to Canadian basketball fans as it complements the current TV offering."
The current TV offering is pretty extensive as Rogers Sportsnet, TSN and Raptors TV already offer hundreds of games, collectively, this season.
The Rogers Super Sports Pak, available to Personal TV customers with a digital box, is $26.95 a month (4-month commitment) and includes NFL Sunday Ticket, MLB Extra Innings, NHL Centre Ice, NASCAR In Car, NCAA football and basketball, OHL Action Pak and now the NBA League Pass.
