MONTREAL – Today, Cogeco Cable’s Quebec HD customers have access to 11 high definition television channels, eight of which are in French, as the company added to its HD lineup.
“The growing popularity of large TV screens confirms it: our customers are constantly looking for exceptional image and sound quality when they watch television,” said Ron Perrotta, vice-president, marketing, Cogeco Cable. “We are putting all our efforts towards providing the best HD offering possible. Only two months after launching five new HD channels in Ontario, we are proud to provide our customers with the most complete French HD offering available in Québec.”
Until now, Cogeco Quebec customers had but a few HD services available to them.
Cogeco’s Passeport customers with a HD receiver can access the HD service for only $2.99 per month. In most of their Quebec territories, Cogeco Cable will offer access to 11 HD channels, seven of which are owned by Astral Media. Cartt.ca reported on the launch of Astral’s new HD channels last week.
Subscribers will now be able to watch shows on SRC (Montreal), CBC (Montreal), Canal Vie, HiSToRiA, Ztélé, Canal D, Séries +, VRAK.TV, CTV (Toronto) and Global (Toronto). Subscribers will benefit from a vast array of HD shows, including Tout le monde en parle, Desperate Housewives, CSI and Métamorphose. Furthermore, subscribers of the HD service also subscribing to Super Écran (SÉ) will have access to high definition Super Écran at no additional cost.
Cogeco Cable has gained close to 80,000 new digital cable customers during its 2006 fiscal year ended August 2006. “The diversity, quality and control of our digital services are the elements on which we base our development work,” added Perrotta.
