MTS Press2Talk can link 10 to one call

WINNIPEG – Saying it will eliminate phone tag at the press of a button, MTS Mobility customers will be able to communicate instantly with as many as nine other people.

Its new Press2Talk service features a wireless handset that combines the ease-of-use of a walkie-talkie with the functionality of a cellular phone, allowing customers with group communications needs to talk more efficiently and conveniently.

The highlights are:

• Instant connection – Press2Talk users can instantly call individuals or groups at the press of a button.
• Know who’s there – Displays the current availability of individuals with icons indicating whether a user is available, do not disturb, or offline.
• Just like a phone – Provides users with the ability to toggle between Press2Talk messages and regular cellular phone calls.
• 10 people at once – Make an instant call to as many as nine other people at one press.
• Customers can manage their contact lists directly on their handset contacts or via a web interface. Contact information is automatically stored on MTS Mobility’s network and can be instantly retrieved.
• Not only will it work in Manitoba, customers can roam across Canada and selected areas of the U.S.

The Press2Talk service is powered by technology from Kodiak Networks and operates over the MTS Mobility network through the new Kyocera KX 444 handset
