EDMONTON – Jim Haskins has decided to quit as vice-president and general manager of Citytv Edmonton, the company reports this morning. His last day is Friday.

Officially, the release reads: “CHUM Television announced today announced that Jim Haskins, vice-president and general manager of Citytv Edmonton, has made the decision to leave the company to pursue other opportunities effective September 23rd.”

“Jim played a major role in the re-branding of A-Channel to Citytv Edmonton, as well as the original development and growth of the station prior to its acquisition by CHUM from Craig Media,” said Al Thorgeirsen, regional vice-president, CHUM Television, Alberta/Manitoba. “Jim’s contribution led to rapid acceptance and success of the new station in the local Edmonton market.”

Ric Davies, director of special projects for CHUM Television, will be assuming responsibility on an interim basis for the CHUM Television business units in Edmonton which are Citytv together with services under Access Media Group which include ACCESS, Canadian Learning Television, BookTelevision and CourtTV Canada.
