MONTREAL — Bell Media’s French-language specialty service Z announced today Quebec comedian Christine Morency (pictured) will host a new weekly comedy reality series, Corde Raide (Tightrope), starting in the fall.
Stand-up comedians will be invited to deliver a routine on a polarizing theme in front of panel of judges affected by the topic. Expect some taboo topics on this particular tightrope, says the press release.
Each week, three comedians will offer a stand-up on a given topic designed to cause a reaction and which must take into account the potential sensitivities of the public. After each performance, there will be an exchange between the humourist and the members of the jury, who will consider what they liked and disliked about the routine and whether they would have gone further. At the end of the program, the panel of judges will decide on their preferred approach.
Corde Raide (9×30) is produced by Juste pour rire TV in collaboration with Bell Media.
