YTV rolling into 3D

OTTAWA – Corus Entertainment’s YTV announced today it’s entered into a development deal with Amberwood Entertainment for RollBots, a major 3D animated series for the international kids market.

RollBots is an action series for kids aged 6 to 11 initially comprised of 26 half-hours. YTV and the Canadian Television Fund have funded development of the series.

Based on an original idea by Michael Milligan, RollBots is poised to become a top new brand in the kids market, with both toy and video game development also planned.

The RollBots are perfectly round robots that zip through Flip City, a metropolis of smooth roller-coaster tracks interlaced around a central hub. In this self-contained city-world the ‘bots are in a battle to save their roller-track society against the evil Syndicate, says the press release.

"We are very excited to be partnering with YTV on this fresh and unique concept and anticipate a great shelf life for the RollBots brand,” said Jonathan Wiseman, Amberwood’s director of sales and marketing.

“RollBots is an original series that is sure to appeal to the YTV audience, and be embraced by kids around the world for its creative concepts," added Bonita Siegel, director, original productions at Corus Children’s Television.
