YouTube launches AVOD service in U.S.

SAN BRUNO, Calif. — YouTube announced last week connected TV users in the U.S. can now stream select movies and full seasons of TV shows on YouTube for free with ads. The library of content currently available to U.S. viewers on YouTube’s new ad-supported video on demand (AVOD) platform includes almost 4,000 episodes of TV shows, including Hell’s Kitchen, Andromeda and Heartland, and more than 1,500 movies from Disney Media and Entertainment Distribution, Warner Bros., Paramount Pictures, Lionsgate and FilmRise, according to a YouTube blog post.
