OTTAWA – Canadians are hooked on social networking, and our country’s younger demographic spends the equivalent of a full day online each week, according to two new reports from Media Technology Monitor.
The reports look at how Canadians spending more time using the Internet in their homes and while on-the-go, as well as the widespread use of social networking among Canadians. Internet use in Canada continues to rise and is nearly ubiquitous among certain demographic groups. Almost 90% of Canadians have an Internet connection in the home and the majority have high-speed.
According to MTM’s Social Networking report, 63% of Canadians are avid daily users of social media, with Facebook being the most widespread. Twitter and LinkedIn have also experienced strong growth over the past year.
