WOODSTOCK, NB – Xplornet launched 25 Mbps rural high-speed Internet in New Brunswick Wednesday and promised to deploy the same level of service nationally within the next three years.

The rural broadband provider said that the “huge advance” in rural Internet speed is a result of its investment in Long Term Evolution (LTE) technology that is being used in its fixed wireless high-speed Internet network.  Upgraded speeds are currently available in rural areas around the communities of Fredericton, Moncton, Saint John, Miramichi, Dieppe, Sackville, Shediac, Bouctouche, Sussex, Woodstock, Grand Falls and St. Stephen, and all of Xplornet's fixed-wireless network in the province will be upgraded by 2015.

“This is transformative speed," said Xplornet president Allison Lenehan, in the news release.  "Only a few years ago this kind of speed would have been unimaginable. People have been talking about the urban/rural digital divide for years – we've just conquered it.  For rural businesses, these Internet speeds also mean that rural entrepreneurs will be able to do business with the world on a world-class network.”

Lenehan added that Xplornet's goal is to make 25 Mbps high-speed Internet available across Canada by 2017.
