WOODSTOCK, NB – Xplornet Communications is promising rural Canadians a dramatic improvement in Internet speed and capacity with its new satellite Internet service.

The service, which promises up to 25 Mbps download, is available now via the company’s new satellite EchoStar XIX.  Combined with the scheduled launch of the ViaSat-2 satellite on June 1st, Xplornet said that it anticipates tripling its current satellite Internet capacity.

"Our new satellite program is a major step in Xplornet's history of using innovation and technology to bring Canadians closer together," said Xplornet president and CEO Allison Lenehan, in Thursday’s news release.  "This satellite, and our next satellite that is scheduled to be in service in the first quarter of 2018, will measurably improve service for our loyal customers, and provide new customers with more data at speeds not previously available in many parts of Canada."

Services from the new satellite are available to new and existing Xplornet customers.
