WOODSTOCK – Citing growing demand for its services, Xplornet Communications will increase the number of full-time employees at its customer care centre in Fredericton by 34% this year.
The rural broadband provider said Wednesday that the 55 new sales and service roles come as a result of “recent milestones” at the company, including last week’s launch of the EchoStar XVII broadband satellite on which Xplornet has purchased 100% of the Canadian capacity.
"This announcement caps a momentous week for our company”, said chief strategy officer Allison Lenehan, in the press release. “Our new 4G broadband satellite was launched last week and we expect satellite service to be available to rural New Brunswick residents and businesses in the fourth quarter of this year. We have also expanded our Fredericton location and are very pleased to be working with the Province of New Brunswick through Invest New Brunswick to grow in a market that offers so many highly qualified and motivated employees."
