Xplornet deal gives ISP access to Manitoba Hydro’s fibre net

WINNIPEG – Following a competitive tendering process, the Manitoba government today announced it has signed a memorandum of understanding with Xplornet Communications to connect more than 125,000 unserved or underserved Manitobans to high-speed internet as well as wireless services. The deal will see Xplornet use the fibre optic network of Manitoba Hydro as its backbone to deliver services to a large number of small Manitoba communities, including many Indigenous regions.
