Rural internet provider Xplore announced Monday the launch of 5G Ultra, which it says leverages 5G+ technology to offer wireless home internet speeds of up to 500 Mbps to Canadians in small towns and rural communities.
5G Ultra is 10 times faster than Xplore’s most popular home internet plan, which offers speeds up to 50 Mbps, said an Xplore press release.
Xplore is initially launching 5G Ultra in select regions of Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Ontario and all four Atlantic provinces, with plans to expand its 5G Ultra footprint throughout Canada over the coming months, Xplore said.
“This is a game changer, plain and simple,” Xplore CEO Brent Johnston said in the company’s press release. “Canadians in rural communities across our country can now access near-fibre speeds, paired with our exceptional 100% Canadian-based customer service. We’re talking about a reliable, ultra-fast connection for entertainment, education, health, and economic growth.”
Xplore said the introduction of 5G Ultra is part of the company’s commitment to invest $1.6 billion in expanding and upgrading its fibre and wireless networks to serve Canadians living in rural communities.
“We have one focus and one focus only: delivering the best and fastest connections to people in rural communities across Canada,” Johnston said. “That’s our legacy and 5G Ultra shows that it’s also our future.”
