Xplore appoints former Bell exec as new president and chief commercial officer

Correction: A previous version of this article said Jamal would replace previous president and CEO Allison Lenehan. In fact, Fran Shammo will remain interim CEO.

MARKHAM – Xplore announced Tuesday that Rizwan Jamal will be the company’s next president and chief commercial officer starting May 1.

Jamal will be responsible for sales, marketing and product development and will support the company’s “strategic priorities,” a press release said.

“I am excited to be joining Xplore at this pivotal time in the Company’s history,” Jamal said in the release. “Xplore has become one of the country’s largest telecommunications providers proudly serving rural residential and business customers, and I look forward to working closely with Fran and the rest of the Xplore team as the company continues to invest in building a world-class network.”

Jamal was previously president of residential and small business at Bell, where he spent more than 11 years. Before that, he was employed for 11 years by Telus in roles including senior vice president of consumer marketing.

In February, the company said Allison Lenehan, who spent 10 years as the company’s head, was stepping down and is now senior advisor to the company’s board.
