XM Canada subscriptions rise by 50% in one quarter

TORONTO – The number of subscribers to the XM Canada satellite radio service increased by 50% in the fourth quarter from the previous three months, Canadian Satellite Radio Holdings Inc. announced.

As of Aug. 31, XM Canada had 120,000 subscribers. Though that date marked the end of its first fiscal year, the service had only launched nine months previously.

“Our subscriber level in nine months exceeds all of our expectations and we look forward to momentous growth in 2007,” said Stephen Tapp, President and COO of XM Canada. “XM Canada offers the most extensive automotive partnerships, the greatest music and entertainment as well as innovative technology that Canadians want. In addition, we are excited to have XM Satellite Radio now available in more than 80 models offered by General Motors, Honda, Nissan, Toyota, Suzuki and Subaru in Canada starting with the 2007 model production this month.”

These subscriber numbers are unaudited. More details will be made available in the fourth quarter financial statements when they’re released.
