TORONTO – XM Canada today hired former talk show host Mike Bullard to host a new morning show on its Canadian comedy channel, Laugh Attack.
"Mike Bullard Uncensored," which will also feature Canadian comedienne Judy Croon and comedian Lawrence Morgenstern, will debut on Monday, October 23. The show will be broadcast throughout North America five days a week, from 7 to 9 a.m. ET.
"Realizing the significance of launching the first original Canadian morning show on satellite radio, XM Canada president and COO Stephen Tapp and VP of Programming Ross Davies, had undertaken an extensive search for the talent to drive the show," says the press release. But they settled on Bullard.
"Mike’s bullish personality is a perfect fit on Laugh Attack and we are really excited to see what he can do in an uncensored environment. Listeners should be prepared for a new wave of comedy from Mike, Judy and Lawrence," said Tapp.
The show will be interactive, too. Not only will Bullard and crew take calls from listeners across North America, but everybody’s invited to join him live at the studio. "Mike’s show may be the only one in Canada with an open door policy – allowing the audience to visit the XM Toronto studios and ‘sit in’ anytime they would like," added Davies.
During a ceremony this afternoon at the XM Canada street-front studios at the corner of Avenue and Davenport, in Toronto, "Mike Bullard Uncensored" was officially launched. As part of the ceremony, Laugh Attack Program Director Mark Breslin presented Bullard with what is believed to be the biggest contract ever awarded to a radio personality in Canada.
Although the exact payment details have not been revealed, Breslin, who has witnessed his share of deals as founder and owner of Yuk Yuks, was shocked by the sheer size of the contract. "I quite literally have never seen anything like it," said Breslin at the ceremony. "It must be at least 15-feet wide and more than 75-feet tall."
