www.cartt.ca expands again

HAMILTON, ON – The leading news source for the Canadian cable, radio, television and telecom industry is growing again.

While other industry publications cut back, www.cartt.ca is adding to its editorial team. Besides editor and publisher Greg O’Brien, www.cartt.ca now has a total of four other editors now covering the Canadian industry.

Glenn Wanamaker will be our Quebec Editor. He is a freelance broadcaster and journalist, with 25 years experience in the broadcast industry, including 15 in Quebec. Based in Quebec City, the bi-lingual Wanamaker will keep his finger on the pulse of the industry in the province where radio and TV is always so interesting and where voice over IP telephony is growing fastest.

With HDTVs and MP3 players, interconnected gaming systems and television to the cell phone, the consumer electronic industry is extremely important to the cable, radio, television and telecom industries. So, www.cartt.ca has brought on a Consumer Electronics Editor, John Bugailiskis. John has had a life-long obsession with consumer gadgets and has written numerous articles on developments in consumer electronics for a number of consumer, trade and web-based magazines. As the former editor of Broadcaster magazine for over nine years, he is particularly aware of what specific CE advancements apply to the trade.

And, as previously announced, www.cartt.ca last month added a pair of editors to cover radio and the west.

Radio Editor Laurel Hyatt has been covering Canada’s broadcasting and distribution industries from the nation’s capital for nearly a decade, and spent six years as a news anchor, reporter, and producer in private and public radio. Laurel’s specialties are the radio industry and the CRTC. She has a Bachelor of Journalism degree from Carleton University in Ottawa.

She has already created buzz in the industry this month with a story on payola’s potential in Canada and covered the satellite radio decision for www.cartt.ca.

Tara Blasco Raj is www.cartt.ca’s Western Canada Editor, and has a long list of industry-related editorships including; PrimeTime, an entertainment magazine for Corus Premium Television; Cable in the Classroom, a bilingual magazine for educators, and Big Picture, a technology and entertainment magazine for over 1.4 million cable subscribers across Canada.

Based in Edmonton, Blasco Raj has already reported on CHUM’s switch from A Channel to Citytv and on the strike at Telus.

“There is just so much going on in the Canadian cable, radio, television and telecom space that it’s not possible to cover everything with one person,” said O’Brien. “We’ve added these seasoned journalists in order to bring original, timely information to the busy professionals in the trade – along with a level of depth that isn’t available anywhere else.”
