ST JOHN’S – The St. John’s International Women’s Film Festival (October 14-18, 2020) is going virtual for its 31st year.
“We are committed to supporting, showcasing and celebrating women filmmakers, and keeping our patrons safe. That’s why this year, we are sharing a stellar lineup of short and feature-length films, industry panels and celebrations – delivered digitally,” says the festival’s press release today
For the first time, audiences across Canada will be able to take in the full program online and view on demand.
The opening film, Little Orphans, is a debut film for both director Ruth Lawrence and writer Emily Bridger, who also stars with Marthe Bernard (Republic of Doyle) and Rhiannon Morgan (Black Conflux). “A Telefilm Canada Talent to Watch recipient, boasting a cast and crew of over 50% women and shot in St. John’s, Little Orphans tells the story of three sisters who come home for a wedding – and become entangled in a complicated web of family secrets,” reads the release.
