Women in Technology Chapter launches in Toronto

TORONTO – A professional development seminar highlighting advancement strategies is the inaugural event for a new organization dedicated to helping women achieve success in the technology sector.

The CATA WIT (Women in Technology) Forum, a division of the Canadian Advanced Technology Alliance (CATAAlliance), will hold an event spotlighting successful women from several technology sectors, at the launch of its Toronto Chapter on June 15th at the MaRS Discovery Centre.

CATA WIT (Women in Technology) Forum is a connected organization that provides women in the business of technology with knowledge and passion, allowing them to advance in their careers and businesses and grow the organizations they participate in.

"The technology sector is an area where women can advance quickly, if we get together and share our strengths" says Joanne Stanley, Vice President, CATA WIT Forum. "Science and technology depends on brain-power, which is inherently equitable. Already in sectors like computers and communications, 26% of the management positions belong to women. This could offer a fast track to women who are qualified and determined. But we need to take active measures to increase that percentage and advance ourselves." adds Stanley.
