Wind Mobile uses HD Voice to market devices

TORONTO – Wind Mobile is using the concept of HD Voice to help promote the availability of the Nexus S, its newest Android device.

HD voice technology, otherwise known as wide band AMR, doubles the transmitted bandwidth of a caller’s voice by capturing twice the speech information of a standard phone call which allows for a better quality, clearer voice service experience.

“HD Voice allows customers to make calls with crystal-clear transmission and without the distraction of background noises”, said CEO Ken Campbell, in the announcement. “Canadians expect HD quality for movies, television and music, so why not for mobile phones? Being the only carrier to offer the Google Nexus S with HD Voice service shows that we are ahead of the technology curve and completely dedicated to giving consumers a great experience.”

The Nexus S is currently available for $375 on a company account called WINDtab or for $525 with a no-term contract.  Wind also offers the Nokia C5-04, C7 and Alcatel Tribe with HD Voice. Click here for a sample of HD Voice on Wind’s network.
