TORONTO – With the incumbent wireless companies now having all reported their first quarter results Wind Mobile pointed out today that it has added more new subscribers than any other wireless provider.
By adding more than 39,000 new subscribers in Q1, Wind claimed 30% of the subscriber growth in the quarter nationally. “If that growth is adjusted for the actual size of Wind’s coverage areas that means their share was over 50%,” reads the company’s press release
The customer additions mean that as of the end of March, the company had over 272,000 Canadian customers.
"These numbers prove what we at Wind already knew – Canadians are tired of paying sky-high prices and want a real wireless alternative," said Anthony Lacavera, chairman of Globalive Communications and Wind Mobile in the release. "It’s proof that wireless competition has been long overdue and Canadians are sending a clear signal that they have opted for Wind because of a true value for dollar offering and a positive customer service experience."
Wind is now selling in more than 500 locations across Canada, roaming to over 200 countries and planning to expand the network coverage in the coming year, the release added.
