WildBrain launches new FAST channels on Samsung TV Plus in Australia, New Zealand

Kids and family entertainment company WildBrain announced Wednesday it has launched new free ad-supported streaming TV (FAST) channels on Samsung TV Plus in Australia and New Zealand for Teletubbies, Strawberry Shortcake, Caillou, Sonic and Super Mario.

In addition, a further 27 channels for WildBrain properties are planned to launch on Samsung’s FAST platform in multiple international territories later this year, as part of an expanded partnership between the two companies, according to a WildBrain press release. These new FAST channels include Strawberry Shortcake in the U.K., Sonic in the U.K. and Italy, and Teletubbies and Strawberry Shortcake in Brazil and Mexico.

“These new channels will add to the 29 channels already on Samsung TV Plus across the U.S. and Canada, UK, France, Germany, Spain and Italy, nearly doubling the number of WildBrain channels on the platform while expanding WildBrain’s FAST audiences in new territories,” the company’s press release says.

WildBrain says it has more than 100 FAST channels currently available across multiple platforms globally and more on the way.

“FAST is a cutting-edge and strategic opportunity for IP owners to engage their fans wherever they’re watching, with ‘always on’ channels serving up dedicated, 24-7 streams of content in a curated kid-safe environment,” Lara Ilie, vice president of AVOD and FAST at WildBrain, said in the release. “We’re delighted to extend our position as the leader in the FAST space for kids’ brands through this expansion of our partnership with Samsung TV Plus.”

Since launching its FAST strategy, WildBrain has driven growth on its channels to 7.5 billion minutes watched in 2023, up from 502 million minutes in 2019, the company says. It operates FAST channels for more than 20 brands, including Teletubbies, Strawberry Shortcake, Caillou, Inspector Gadget, Degrassi, Slugterra, Sonic, and Super Mario.
