SYDNEY, Australia, TORONTO and SINGAPORE — Australia’s A Stark Production, Canada’s WildBrain and Singapore’s Infinite Studios announced today they are co-producing a fourth season of the global hit animated series The Deep.

“A Stark Production will handle scripting, storyboarding and design, and original music score, with WildBrain managing editorial, directors, voice recording and postproduction on the new episodes. Infinite Studios will oversee layout, animation, FX, lighting and composition,” reads a press release.

Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) has commissioned 13 new half-hour episodes of the series, in partnership with Mediacorp and the Australian Children’s Television Foundation, and with the support of Screen NSW.

International broadcaster partners CBBC in the UK, WildBrain’s Family Channel in Canada, Super RTL in Germany and SVT in Sweden have also committed to acquiring the new season for broadcast.

Distribution rights for Australia and New Zealand are handled by the Australian Children’s Television Foundation, while Infinite Studios manages rights for Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Philippines, Vietnam, Myanmar, Brunei, Cambodia, Laos and China. WildBrain oversees sales for the rest of the world.

Previous seasons of the series have been sold to more than 130 markets.

The Deep continues to go from strength to strength on Family Channel, constantly captivating its loyal fan base as well as drawing in new viewers, thanks to its graphic-novel pedigree and compelling storylines,” said Katie Wilson, vice-president of channels and curation at WildBrain Television, in the press release.

“We’re very happy that more thrilling underwater adventures are on the way and excited by what’s in store for the Nekton family in season four.”
