CLIFFORD, ON – Wightman Telecom and local TV producer Adam Olivero are being recognized by Crime Stoppers Guelph Wellington (CSGW) with the 2017 Cornerstone Award for their support of the program.
The Cornerstone Award is presented to an individual, business or community group that demonstrates outstanding contributions to the CSGW program. It is awarded annually in January during Crime Stoppers Month.
Wightman’s community channel offered significant support of CSGW starting in 2014 when the monthly What’s Happening in Mount Forest segments led to Olivero and CSGW program coordinator Sarah Bowers-Peter developing a dedicated Crime Stoppers broadcast featuring local crimes. This resulted in coverage of the Wellington North flag raising for Crime Stoppers month in January 2015, and a subsequent Ontario Association of Crime Stoppers award for CSGW and Wightman TV. CSGW and Wightman TV were also honoured by Crime Stoppers International in 2017 for a broadcast entitled There Is No Victimless Crime where CSGW spoke with local community leaders about victimization.
“Two of Wightman’s values are Community Partnership and Safety, and our work with Crime Stoppers is one way we live these values”, said Wightman’s marketing manager Hope Reidt, in the announcement. “Wightman is proud to support Crime Stoppers through our ongoing coverage on Wightman Community TV, and we will continue to highlight the great work that Crime Stoppers does.”
