WFN signs fishing star Izumi

TORONTO – If any star and network partnership ever made sense, this one does.

WFN: World Fishing Network, announced today a marketing partnership with one of the biggest names in Canadian fishing: Bob Izumi.

Probably Canada’s best-known fisherman, Izumi will serve as spokesperson for WFN, appear on the network’s station IDs and be the focal point of the network’s marketing and promotions (exclusive to WFN). Additionally, Izumi’s popular weekly fishing program, The Real Fishing Show, airs on WFN during the “All Canadian Fishing” block.

And, details of a Canada-wide WFN-Izumi consumer contest will be released shortly.

“I’m excited to be part of WFN,” said Izumi (right) in a release. “Fishing has been my lifetime passion, and I believe in the WFN vision, product and brand. A 24-hour network dedicated to fishing is a dream come true not only for me, but for millions of fishing enthusiasts across the country. I hear from thousands of people each year, and know that WFN is filling a definite void in this country. ”

“The Bob Izumi brand is one that transcends the fishing industry, and we’re excited to work with Bob to let Canadians know about the entertaining and informative programming WFN offers,” added Christopher Doyle, vice-president marketing, WFN.

In 1979 Izumi was Canada’s first full time professional fisherman, at age 20. Since then he has become Canada’s most authoritative sport fishing expert. Izumi is the country’s most successful tournament fisherman, a requested author, seminar speaker, conservationist, television personality and radio host, says the press release.
