BRANDON, Man. – Westman Communications Group announced this week that the winner of its popular Loyalty Contest Star Jet trip to Mazatlan, Mexico is James Bishop from Rivers.

The contest, where the co-op’s members of five years or more are entered to win, was announced as a part of Westman's member appreciation initiative as a way of giving thanks to members who have shown loyalty to Westman as their communications provider. Bishop’s name was randomly selected from 10,000 ballots and announced by CMO John Quail on Saturday, December 8, 2018 at Westman's 2018 annual general meeting.

Bishop, who’s been a member for 11 years, won a $4,000, 7 night vacation to the all-inclusive five-star Barcelo Playa Mazatlan Beach Hotel.

"Westman is always seeking new avenues to reward our loyal members and this is one of the ways we are saying thank you this year to those who have a long-standing membership in our co-operative," said Quail.

In addition, Westman announced its members were winners too, because this year the company will be making equity dividend payments to members totaling $500,000.

"In addition to the equity members earn through membership with Westman, their continued patronage enables us to continue to grow the co-operative, which benefits our members and our community" added Quail in the press release.

Westman provides service throughout Western Manitoba, operating cable systems in 36 communities, providing cable TV, Internet and phone. It also owns and operates local radio stations 880 CKLQ and 94.7 Star FM, which broadcast throughout Western Manitoba.
