ST. LAZARE, Man. – With the now complete upgrade of its network facilities in St. Lazare, Westman Communications announced this week all 34 of its southwestern Manitoba communities are now 100 percent fibre-connected.

In 2010, the cable, broadband and telecom co-op started its project to connect all of its local communities to fibre in order to offer faster Internet speeds, enhanced TV and home phone solutions.

“The ability to offer all of our customers the full suite of enhanced communication services brings great satisfaction to our members and was a huge success,” said John Quail chief marketing officer, in a press release. “Our services have been well-received, giving our members more choice for entertainment and savings.

“With more wireless enabled devices in the homes competing for bandwidth, our no data cap plans are a great choice for customers and having access to download speeds up to 150Mbps creates opportunities for businesses and other entrepreneurs.”

The co-op now says it will start fibre-connecting more underserved communities in Western Manitoba, but it did not announce where, yet.
