WCT is looking for mentors

OTTAWA — Women in Communications and Technology (WCT) today issued a call for mentors to join the 2021 edition of its National Mentorship Program, sponsored by Corus.

“There’s never been a time when we have needed each other more. 2020 has presented us with a whole array of new professional challenges. We’re all dealing with things like the fusion of home and work life, enforced physical isolation, and a less-than-rosy economic outlook,” reads the email call for mentors.

The program matches a WCT member with a senior or peer member of the communications or technology sectors for one year of counsel, leadership and professional development. Last year the program made nearly 100 one-to-one mentorship matches, and the demand this year for mentors is likely to surpass that number, says the email.

WCT will launch the 2021 National Mentorship Program at the end of October. More information about the program can be found here.

Those interested in becoming mentors are asked to email Lynda Leonard at WCT, and attach their LinkedIn profile or resume. Mentors will be matched with a mentee after the call for mentee applications closes in mid-December.
